Hello. I'm Megan and I'm an English student at Oxford. Having gone through the exams I tutor for recently myself, I have a great understanding of what it is like to be tested on this material, and ultimately what the examiner is looking for. I have tutored GCSE English literature and language, and in doing so have learnt how to adapt and truly work with students on a one-to-one basis. I also achieved a high score in the ELAT test (the admissions test for Oxbridge) and would be very excited to share my knowledge about the process, and hopefully allow you to have the opportunity to make your university dreams come true. For my GCSE students, we often begin with looking at some work you've already done. We talk about what's going well, and what needs to be improved before we begin on an interactive breaking down of the course. For exams, I focus a lot on examiners reports. I make sure my students understand exactly what the examiner is looking for, and advise on how best to learn the content, moving through methods until we find the right fit. For the ELAT I take a different approach. We will look through a general history of literature, after which I will ask that you pick one text, writer or movement that particularly interests you. We shall research this together - this is important because this study will likely form the basis of your personal statement, which you may be asked about in interviews. When you are comfortable with poetic terms and a general history of literature, we will move on the past papers.
