My purpose in life is to help other people thrive, and I have always placed this at the centre of my work. Success and high standards matter, but I value trust, honesty, and kindness above all things. These simple human values are key in our relationships with others, but they also make or break the relationship we have with ourselves. I am a trained coach with a background in senior leadership who managed to escape the endless rounds of business-lingo-bingo. No ‘leveraging’, ‘going forward’, or other such meaningless nonsense here. When you need a coach or a consultant, it can be hard to find the one who gets what you do. That is why I started Seratoner. My name is Paul J. Abbott. Before I launched my own brands, I enjoyed a fantastic career centred around events management and artistic direction in the creative sector and higher education. I managed a mixed-use venue for around ten years and I have experience of commercial conferencing, associations, live music, and festivals. I was also responsible for employability and enterprise in a UK conservatoire, helping young artists to build their confidence and plan for the future. I hold a PhD in music, and I continue to compose and perform. My first book goes on sale in autumn 2023, and I also enjoy painting and food. My events career took me right up to senior leadership with responsibility for large numbers of staff seven figure budgets, and everything which goes with that territory. I have trained and coached my own teams to achieve great things with former colleagues going on to do great things. I have dealt with the complexities of policy and procedure, HR issues, governance, contract management, and a whole load more. I have also been a non-executive director on a number of boards, including time as Vice-Chair for a charitable arts organisation.
