I've appeared on BBC and commercial radio and TV as an expert and I'm trained to provide expert witness testimony on people's mental health for legal cases. Able to address an A to Z of conditions, issues, concerns and problems and personal growth, I am a former member of the University of Warwick Medical School Advisory Board and I've guest lectured in 7 university departments. Where suitable, if it appeals to you, I also use the arts in therapy. I first read psychology at university as a teenager and after student jobs like driving a mini-bus and working in factories and helping run a GP doctors' conference, I had a career in ethical news media and often interviewed people following traumatic events. After years of volunteering I trained professionally as a therapist, graduating in counselling in 2002 from Coventry University and later at a high Diploma level following clinical placements for two years including in an NHS hospital for 12 months. I have a long list of qualifications and I've attended over 1,050 (yes over a thousand) learning events including courses, conferences, seminars, webinars and workshops.
